Dua of the Day — Ayat al-Kursi

اللَّهُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الْحَيُّ الْقَيُّومُ

Allahu la ilaha illa huwal-hayyul-qayyum…

Translation: "Allah — there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of existence…" (Quran 2:255)

💡 Benefit: Whoever recites Ayat al-Kursi after every obligatory prayer — nothing will prevent him from entering Paradise except death. (An-Nasa'i, Ibn Hibban)

Why Recite Daily Adhkar?

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught his companions specific supplications for every occasion — waking, sleeping, eating, travelling, entering the home, and more. These adhkar are a form of dhikr (remembrance of Allah) that protect, purify, and draw the believer closer to Allah.

Allah says in the Quran: "Verily, in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest." (13:28)

🛡️

Protection

Morning & evening adhkar act as a spiritual shield against harm and evil.

Forgiveness

Many duas carry promises of sins being forgiven and rewards multiplied.

🕊️

Peace

Regular dhikr brings tranquility to the heart and clarity to the mind.

Common Questions About Islamic Duas

What is the dua for studying and exam success in Islam? +
The dua for studying is: "Allahumma la sahla illa ma ja'altahu sahlan, wa anta taj'alul-hazna idha shi'ta sahla" — meaning "O Allah, nothing is easy except what You make easy, and You make the difficult easy if You wish." (Ibn Hibban). Recite before studying or sitting exams. Also recite "Rabbi zidni 'ilma" (My Lord, increase me in knowledge — Quran 20:114).
What is the Islamic dua for anxiety, stress, and depression? +
The dua of Yunus (AS): "La ilaha illa anta subhanaka inni kuntu minaz-zalimin" — meaning "There is no deity except You; exalted are You. Indeed, I have been of the wrongdoers." (Quran 21:87). The Prophet ﷺ said no Muslim calls upon Allah with these words in any matter except that Allah responds. Also recite "Hasbunallahu wa ni'mal-wakil" — Allah is sufficient for us.
What is the dua for traveling in Islam? +
Recite when boarding a vehicle: "Subhanalladhee sakhkhara lana hadha wa ma kunna lahu muqrineen, wa inna ila rabbina lamunqaliboon" — meaning "Glory be to He who has subjected this to us, and we could not have subdued it. And indeed we, to our Lord, will return." (Quran 43:13-14; Muslim).
What is the dua for forgiveness (Istighfar) in Islam? +
The best dua for forgiveness is Sayyid al-Istighfar (Bukhari): begin with "Allahumma anta rabbi la ilaha illa anta, khalaqtani wa ana abduka..." — whoever recites it in the morning with belief and dies that day enters Paradise. The shortest form is "Astaghfirullah" — the Prophet ﷺ said this 70+ times daily.
What is the dua for breaking the fast (Iftar) in Islam? +
Recite at Iftar: "Dhahaba az-zama'u wabtallatil-'uruqu wa thabatal-ajru insha'Allah" — meaning "The thirst is gone, the veins are moistened, and the reward is confirmed, if Allah wills." (Abu Dawud). The Prophet ﷺ said the dua of the fasting person at the moment of Iftar is not rejected.
What is the difference between dua and dhikr? +
Dua is supplication — directly asking Allah for something. Dhikr is remembrance of Allah through specific phrases (Subhanallah, Alhamdulillah, Allahu Akbar). Both are acts of worship; many duas combine the two. Dhikr keeps the heart connected to Allah; dua is the heart speaking directly to Him.
When is dua most likely to be accepted? +
Dua is most likely accepted: in the last third of the night (Tahajjud time), between the adhan and iqamah, while in sujud (prostration), on Friday during the last hour before Maghrib, when fasting at the moment of Iftar, and during rain.
