Essential everyday supplications — entering the home, the masjid, the toilet, after wudu, and sneezing.
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْخُبُثِ وَالْخَبَائِثِ
Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minal-khubuthi wal-khaba'ith
Translation
O Allah, I seek Your protection from male and female devils.
Recite before entering the bathroom/toilet — placing the left foot first. Evil jinn inhabit dirty places, and this dua is a shield. After exiting, say: "Ghufranaka (Your forgiveness, O Lord)" (Abu Dawud).
أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ، وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ
Ash-hadu an la ilaha illallahu wahdahu la sharika lah, wa ash-hadu anna Muhammadan 'abduhu wa rasuluh
Translation
I testify that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah alone, with no partner, and I testify that Muhammad is His servant and messenger.
The Prophet ﷺ said: "Whoever says this after wudu, the eight gates of Paradise are opened for him and he may enter from whichever he wishes." Also add: Allahumma ij'alni minat-tawwabina waj'alni minal-mutatahhirin (Tirmidhi).
اللَّهُمَّ افْتَحْ لِي أَبْوَابَ رَحْمَتِكَ
Allahumma iftah li abwaba rahmatik
Translation
O Allah, open for me the gates of Your mercy.
Recite upon entering the masjid, entering with the right foot first. When leaving the masjid, say: "Allahumma inni as'aluka min fadlik" (O Allah, I ask You of Your bounty) — Muslim.
الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ
Al-hamdu lillah
Translation
All praise is for Allah.
Say "Al-hamdu lillah" when you sneeze. Those who hear it say: "Yarhamukallah" (May Allah have mercy on you). The sneezer replies: "Yahdikumullahu wa yuslihu balakum" (May Allah guide you and set your affairs right). (Bukhari)
لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ، لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ يُحْيِي وَيُمِيتُ وَهُوَ حَيٌّ لَا يَمُوتُ، بِيَدِهِ الْخَيْرُ وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ
La ilaha illallahu wahdahu la sharika lahu, lahul-mulku wa lahul-hamd, yuhyi wa yumitu wa huwa hayyun la yamut, biyadihil-khayr wa huwa 'ala kulli shay'in qadir
Translation
There is no deity except Allah, alone, with no partner. His is the dominion and His is the praise. He gives life and causes death, and He is living and does not die. In His hand is all good and He is over all things capable.
Recite when entering any marketplace (or mall, shop). The Prophet ﷺ said: "Whoever says this in the market, Allah will write for him one million good deeds, erase one million of his bad deeds, and raise him one million ranks."
