History of Shah-i-Hamadan Mosque (Khanqah-e-Moula)
The Khanqah-e-Moula was originally built in 1395 in memory of Mir Sayyid Ali Hamadani, the Persian Sufi missionary who played the most decisive role in converting Kashmir to Islam in the 14th century. The wooden structure on the banks of the Jhelum river is one of the finest examples of Kashmiri woodcraft, with intricate papier-mâché work inside. Non-Muslims are not permitted to enter but may view the exterior.
