History of Bolton Central Mosque (Makki Masjid)
Bolton Central Mosque, also known as Makki Masjid, was established in 1982 to serve Bolton's rapidly growing South Asian Muslim population. Located in the Bradford Street area of central Bolton, it is the largest mosque in the town and one of the most important in Greater Manchester. The mosque provides daily prayers, three Jummah congregations every Friday, a full-time Islamic school (madrasah), Quran memorisation (hifz) classes, nikah services, and full Islamic funeral arrangements. The mosque also runs extensive community welfare and charitable programmes.
